MONTANA BUSINESS GROWTH CHECKLIST Montana Legacy Media Journal / The Editorial Desk Rooted in Livingston, Montana. For businesses across the state. Use this worksheet for one manageable decision, not a guarantee of growth. 1. Name the customer problem. What does the customer need, and what evidence supports that view? Separate a specific example from a recurring pattern. 2. Describe your capacity. What work can your team fulfill reliably? Include travel, seasonal hours, supplier lead times, and the people responsible for delivery. 3. Choose a follow-up worth making. Identify one relevant conversation, the last agreed step, an owner, and a respectful time to follow up. Honor the customer's preferences. 4. Clarify one offer. Write whom it serves, what it includes, what it excludes, and what happens after an inquiry. Check the promise against actual operations. 5. Test before expanding. Choose a limited experiment. Write its budget, duration, responsible person, success measure, and the conditions for stopping or revising it. 6. Do the business math. Revenue is sales value, not profit. Subtract delivery costs to estimate contribution per sale. Include subscription and other incremental costs. Break-even additional sales = total incremental costs / contribution per sale, rounded up. Freed time is not automatically cash savings. 7. Verify outside opportunities. Check public-program eligibility and current application status with the official administrator. A possible match is not funding approval. 8. Review the next decision. What happened? What did you learn? What remains uncertain? Decide whether to continue, change, stop, or ask a professional for help.
